The more than 200 dedicated volunteers at GRMC work alongside health care professionals to give our patients, their families and visitors compassionate and friendly care. The GRMC Volunteers Mission is to serve the Medical Center in ways that are approved and supported by the Medical Center’s Administration and Board of Managers. The volunteers serve at the front information desks, outpatient waiting area and gift shop. They may also assist in such departments as Imaging, Maintenance, Surgery, Endoscopy, Medical Records and Home Care.

Hospice Volunteer Program – The Hospice Volunteer Program was added in 1990. These compassionate volunteers must graduate from an extensive orientation before going on to work with terminally ill patients. Since its inception, dozens have been trained in the facilitation of a supportive environment in which dying patients can live their final days with dignity and quality of life; surrounded by the comforts of friends and family. Other volunteers help the program with fundraising and office projects not requiring direct patient contact. To learn more about our Hospice Volunteer Program, call (830) 401-7561.

An Opportunity to Serve – Volunteering at GRMC means joining a tradition of caring for neighbors and service to community. Volunteers develop strong connections with other volunteers, physicians and staff. Whether you work from home or you’re a seasoned professional, student or retiree, there is always a need for dedicated, concerned citizens to help GRMC serve its patients and community. GRMC also offers opportunities for students at the Summer Junior Volunteer Program. To learn more about volunteering at GRMC, call Kelly Z. Schievelbein at (830) 401-7620.
