Comprehensive healthcare demands a full array of ancillary services. Guadalupe Regional Medical Center recognizes that these services must extend beyond medical records and billing support. By providing dedicated Chaplain and Pastoral care and community programs like our Prescription Assistance Program, Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners Program and subsidized transportation, Guadalupe Regional Medical Center is able to take proactive steps toward improving the health of the community as a whole. And the Guadalupe Healthcare Network–a physician hospital organization, or PHO–works to meet community needs by forming contractual relationships with local and area providers and managed care companies that provide quality affordable health benefit plans.

COMMUNITY SERVICES

Prescription Assistance Program

Guadalupe Regional Medical Center's Prescription Assistance Program (PAP) was created in 1999 to help Guadalupe County (and surrounding area) residents who are unable to afford life-saving prescription medications. In 2006 the program expanded to help patients with no insurance for expensive chemotherapy agents. Clients receive free or low-cost medications for chronic conditions such as asthma, diabetes, depression, glaucoma, hypertension and heart disease. The PAP helps these individuals, of any age, and their physicians enroll in free drug programs administered by pharmaceutical companies.

In the first seven years of operation, the GRMC Prescription Assistance Program has helped over 2,000 local residents receive medication worth over $19 million. Staffed with four fulltime employees, including a registered pharmacist, certified pharmacy tech and dedicated volunteers, the PAP is funded with the help of The United Way, Guadalupe County, Guadalupe Regional Medical Center, the cities of Seguin and Schertz, a $15 monthly processing fee for enrollees of the program and donations from local churches, civic organizations and private citizens. If you would like to help sustain this program and ensure that area residents living on low income have access to the prescription medications they need for an improved quality of life, consider making a charitable donation to the GRMC Foundation, online at www.grmedcenter.com.

If you are interested in enrolling in the PAP, your local physician's referral is required. See your physician for a referral.

GRMC Transportation Program

Guadalupe Regional Medical Center offers free transportation for some patients. As part of our Heritage Program, we provide two handicapped accessible vans equipped with wheelchair lifts. The vans are regularly scheduled for Heritage Program service from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., but transportation for other patients with transportation difficulties can be scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. or from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
