I want to volunteer
Nearly 200 dedicated volunteers at GRMC work alongside health care professionals to give our patients, their families and visitors compassionate and friendly care. Volunteering at GRMC means joining a tradition of caring for neighbors, servicing our community, and developing strong connections with other volunteers, physicians and staff.
Volunteers can make an impact all around the hospital such as the front information desks, outpatient waiting areas, gift shop, as well as departments including Imaging, Maintenance, Surgery, Endoscopy, Medical Records, and more. Whether you work from home or you’re a seasoned professional, student or retiree, there is always a need for dedicated, compassionate citizens to help GRMC serve its patients and community.
GRMC’s Student Volunteer Program serves to assist students with gaining volunteer and/or observation hours for schooling. The Student Volunteer Program is offered year around. For further questions about this program, call our Director of Volunteer Services, Teresa Laechelin, at (830) 401-7620.
We also offer a Summer Junior Volunteer Program opportunity for student’s ages 14 to 18. To learn more about the Summer Junior Volunteer Program, call our Director of Volunteer Services,Teresa Laechelin, at (830) 401-7620.
The Hospice Volunteer Program was added in 1990. These compassionate volunteers must graduate from an extensive orientation before going on to work with terminally ill patients. Since its inception, dozens have been trained in the facilitation of a supportive environment in which dying terminal patients can live their final days with dignity and quality of life; surrounded by the comforts of friends and family. Other volunteers help the program with fundraising and office projects not requiring direct patient contact. To learn more about our Hospice Volunteer Program, call (830) 401-7561.
