    VOLUNTEERS

The more than 150 dedicated volunteers at Guadalupe Regional Medical Center work alongside healthcare professionals to give our patients, their families and visitors compassionate friendly care.

Our volunteers are organized into the Guadalupe Regional Medical Center Auxiliary. More than half a century ago, Texas became the first state to organize its auxiliaries under the Texas Hospital Association. Guadalupe Regional Medical Center Auxiliary has held Charter Membership in that organization since 1963. Although many of the services now performed by volunteers have changed and evolved over the years, volunteers still act out of a deeply felt commitment to community and the power of simple acts of human kindness.

The mission of the Guadalupe Regional Medical Center Auxiliary is to serve the medical center in ways that are approved and supported by the Hospital Administrator and Board of Managers. The members of the Guadalupe Regional Medical Center Auxiliary serve at the front information desk, outpatient waiting area and gift shop. They may also assist in such departments as Imaging, Maintenance, Medical Records, Social Services, and Home Care.

Community – When Guadalupe Regional Medical Center first implemented its Prescription Assistance Program, the Auxiliary’s membership swelled with individuals personally moved by the importance of the program’s mission: helping Guadalupe County residents who are unable to afford lifesaving medications. And the Guadalupe Regional Wellness Center relies on the work of volunteers who understand the importance of a system of resources and professionals dedicated to overall community health.

Hospice Volunteer Program – The Hospice Volunteer Program was added in 1990. These compassionate volunteers must graduate from an extensive orientation before going on to work with terminally ill patients. Since its inception, dozens have been trained in the facilitation of a supportive environment in which dying patients can live their final days with dignity and quality of life, surrounded by the comforts of friends and family. Other volunteers help the program with fundraising and office projects not requiring direct patient contact. To learn more about our Hospice Volunteer Program, call (830) 401-7561.

An Opportunity to Serve – Volunteering at Guadalupe Regional Medical Center means joining a strong tradition of caring for neighbors and service to community. Volunteers develop strong connections with other volunteers, physicians and staff. Whether you work from home or you’re a seasoned professional, student or retiree, there is always a need for dedicated, concerned citizens to help Guadalupe Regional Medical Center serve its patients and community. Guadalupe Regional Medical Center also offers opportunities for students and the Summer Junior Volunteer Program.
