Let it snow! – With string-cheese snowmen

Holiday parties – whether at school or at work – include the sharing and consuming of treats. And when you are expected to bring something to the table, keep in mind that not all treats have to laden with sugar to be tasty and festive.

If you are looking for a healthy alternative to cookies, cupcakes and candy canes, consider dressing up some plain-looking, individually packaged string cheese into dapper Frosty the snowmen. Not only is string cheese a popular snack, it is not a mess to transport. And the snowman transformation is super easy to pull off. You can even let your kids or grandkids do all the work. How’s that for a win?

All you need to dress your snowmen are these items:

– Mozzarella string cheese, individually wrapped
– A black permanent marker
– An orange permanent marker
– Red, green or Christmas-plaid ribbon
– Black construction paper
– Scissors
– Glue stick

Drawing on the string cheese wrapping, use the black marker to make circles of coal for eyes, mouth and buttons down his “belly.” Use the orange marker to draw a triangle for a carrot nose.

Cut a few inches of ribbon and tie the ribbon around the “neck” of the snowman for a festive scarf.

Then cut the shape of a top hat out of the black construction paper and glue it to the top of the snowman’s “head.”

Ta-da! You have brought the magic of Frosty the Snowman to life.

Thumpety, thump, thump, thumpety, thump, thump, look at Frosty go – over the hills of (Texas make-believe) snow – to be a hit at any party.
