Guadalupe Regional Medical Center COVID-19 Update: June 29, 2020

[Seguin, Texas] June 29, 2020 — As of June 29, 2020, Texas Department of State Health Services is reporting 638 COVID-19 cases in Guadalupe County. Per Guadalupe County, 246 of those have recovered.

Numbers of COVID-19 patients at GRMC: Currently GRMC has 32 hospitalized COVID-19 patients. This number changes frequently.

GRMC Dedicated Units: GRMC has dedicated portions of its campus as a COVID-19 unit and a dedicated COVID-19 ICU. Daily strategy calls focus on staffing, equipment, and process alterations as necessary. Every morning GRMC staff uploads information to South Texas Regional Advisory Council (STRAC) regarding our bed capacity, ventilators, and our stock of personal protective equipment. In light of the recent increase in cases, GRMC has submitted a STRAC request for assistance with nursing staff.

Patient Surge Strategy: In the event GRMC sees a patient surge that requires additional beds beyond what our main campus accommodates, we have permission from the state to house patients at 214 Medical Drive, which was previously used as the GRMC Outpatient Surgical Center. This option will only be implemented as a measure of last resort. Keeping patients housed at our main campus is best for our patients, staff, and resource utilization. COVID-19 is likely to be here for some time and we need to ensure we are conserving our resources (including our staff) so GRMC remains ready to care for you now and into the future.
