Each year, nearly 1,000 babies are delivered at GRMC by board-certified physicians specializing in obstetrical care.  And in 2021, GRMC earned the Women’s Choice Award as one of the nation’s Best Hospitals for Obstetrics. This award helps assure expectant mothers that GRMC will provide the best in terms of quality care for her and her baby. This prestigious award recognizes our low rates of early elective deliveries, the high percentage of patients reporting through the national patient satisfaction survey that they would definitely recommend GRMC, and the designation places us in the top 5% of all US hospitals.

Emergency Care

At GRMC, we are an emergency care hospital – we are here to serve you. Our goals are to meet your needs, keep you and your family well informed, and provide excellent care and service. Our Emergency Department (ED) is equipped with all private rooms; with three rooms designed for cardiac, respiratory and critical-care patients. Your comfort, safety and well-being are important to us. If you have any questions or concerns during your visit, please do not hesitate to ask a member of our ED staff.

We are partnered with Methodist HealthCare in San Antonio for emergency care transfers from GRMC to Methodist. This transport service provides life-saving emergency services to our patients. We are also partnered with Methodist to provide patients with a Tele-Stroke Program. Our Tele-Stroke Program uses a video conference system and a web connection to link GRMC’s ER to Methodist-affiliated neurologists to provide expertise when needed. Our staff can provide on-site clot-busting medication in the case of a patient experiencing symptoms related to a stroke.

Robotic X-Ray System

GRMC is proud to be among the first facilities in the nation to install the Multitom Rax Twin Robotic X-ray system. The Robotic X-ray system features a unique and open design, with twin robotic arms that move around the patient so the patient does not have to move. This capability helps reduce patient re-positioning that can cause pain and increase the risk of further injury. This system takes 3D images under the patient’s natural weight-bearing condition – whether the patient is seated, lying down, or standing. This is essential because the knees, pelvis and spinal column appear differently when the patient’s body weight is applied compared to when the patient is lying down. Other advantages of the Robotic X-Ray System include:

  • Multi-modality: It combines radiography, fluoroscopy, angiography, and more
  • Multi-clinical: Trauma, ortho, gastrology, urology, interventions and pain management
  • Multi-patient: Pediatric, geriatric, bariatric, immobile, trauma, and everyone else
  • Multi-dimensional: Static, dynamic and tomographic imaging

Award-Winning Healthcare

In addition to fine physicians and cutting-edge technology, a fundamental aspect of effective medical care is the care and compassion that is brought to the bedside. That culture of caring is hardwired into all levels of our staff and services, and our success is evident in the many national awards recognizing our achievements in patient care quality, safety, culture and patient satisfaction.

The Women’s Choice Award has deemed GRMC to be one of the nation’s BEST hospitals for patient safety for the third year in a row with a top 1% in the nation for 2021. Women’s Choice also named GRMC as one of America’s BEST hospitals for obstetrics for the second year in a row and placed GRMC in the top 9% of all hospitals in the nation. The concept of this award stems from the fact that women are in fact the main decision-makers for health care choices for themselves and their families, and that they base their choices on factors such as safety, quality, advanced technology and compassion.

Modern Healthcare has again recognized GRMC as one of the best healthcare employers in the nation, this year naming us 25th in the whole country for Best Places to Work in Healthcare! GRMC was also named Best Place to Work for the 7th year in a row from the Seguin Gazette.

While hospital quality has never been more important, and more patients are researching where they should receive care, Healthgrades, the leading resource that connects consumers, physicians and health systems, recognized GRMC as a 5-Stars recipient in both colorectal surgeries and treatment for health failure in 2021.

At GRMC we are continuously striving to achieve clinical excellence. These awards are evidence of the efforts our dedicated medical staff and clinical teams make every day to ensure high-quality outcomes for the patients who trust us with their care.

As a chronic wound care hospital, physicians will also evaluate the patient’s wound and overall health in order to develop a personalized treatment plan. With the help of their primary physicians, patients can learn to make positive changes in their lives that can improve their health in the future.

Robotic Surgery

Since 2014, GRMC has performed more than 2,400 robotic surgeries, allowing physicians an amazing degree of accuracy and control, while providing patients a less invasive surgical option. In 2020, GRMC became the only healthcare facility in the region with two of the most advanced surgical systems to date; the da Vinci Xi Surgical System.

As with all robotic procedures, the surgeon is 100% in control of the robotic-assisted da Vinci system, which translates the physicians hand movements into smaller, more precise movements of tiny surgical instruments inside the patient’s body. The Xi system’s 3D-HD vision provides surgeons a highly magnified view, virtually extending their eyes and hands into the patient. The more compact and sleek design provides enhanced vision definition and clarity, while the newly designed smaller, thinner, and more flexible surgical instruments offer a greater range of motion than with previous surgical systems.

Patients can expect:

Shorter Hospitalization

Reduced Pain & Discomfort

Faster Recovery Time

Minimal Scarring

Smaller Incisions

And More!

Telemedicine

Telemedicine is a way of communicating with a specialty physician outside the walls of GRMC. Telemedicine involves the use of electronic communications and software to provide medical care to patients without an in-person visit. It can be used for follow-up visits, management of chronic conditions, medication management, specialist consultation and a number of other services.

There may be times your medical provider or nurse believes you would benefit from a telemedicine consultation. Our team will set up the appointment and the telemedicine physician will video conference in via a computer-like screen in your room. During the consultation process, the telemedicine physician is able to diagnose and construct a treatment plan. Advantages of Telemedicine include:

Increases Access to Care

Reduces Healthcare Costs

Improves Patient Engagement

And More!
