[Seguin, Texas] June 1, 2020 — The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Guadalupe County is 139 including 121 people who have recovered and 18 active cases.

Elective Procedures and Entry Points: Starting today elective surgeries at GRMC are allowed to proceed at 100% normal volume. To accommodate the flow of traffic through our facility the Patient Tower will now be open Monday- Friday from 5:30am-4:00pm and the furniture has been arranged to promote social distancing.

Curbside greeting of patients having an elective procedure will now be done at the Patient Tower entrance with Central Entrance reserved for lab, imaging, and wound care patients. Following the patient’s procedure the Physician will call the support person to discuss procedure outcome. Nursing staff will call the support person when the patient is ready for discharge.

Visitors: During the COVID-19 pandemic GRMC has had no visitors allowed with limited exceptions. Beginning today one (1) support person is allowed per patient with inpatients and outpatients, with the following exceptions:

  • Support person will not be allowed with patients on the Public Health Emergency unit, Intensive Care Unit, or with a COVID positive patient.
  • The support person for patients in the Emergency Department need to stay in the room with their patient unless otherwise instructed.
  • Support persons will not be allowed in the Cardiac Rehab area or Outpatient Physical Therapy. The waiting areas of those outpatient areas are too small to accommodate adequate space for social distancing.

Masking and Screening: The support person must be able to wear a mask and is encouraged to bring their own mask. GRMC continues to screen all people entering our facility for fever, cough, and other symptoms associated with COVID-19.

Curbside Lab Draws at GRMC: Weather permitting, GRMC is offering curbside lab blood draws from 6:30 am – 11:00 am Monday through Friday. You will need to have your physician order, driver’s license and insurance card ready to take advantage of this new service.
