Guadalupe Regional Medical Center COVID-19 Update: January 27, 2021

As of January 26, 2021, Guadalupe County is reporting 10,139 COVID-19 cases. The total number includes 7,659 recovered, 537 confirmed active cases, and 183 probable active cases.

Numbers of COVID-19 Patients at GRMC: Currently GRMC has 30 hospitalized COVID-19 patients. GRMC’s 7 day moving average of new COVID-19 admissions is less than 5 per day and the 7 day moving average for COVID-19 hospitalizations is 32 per day. This information represents average numbers from our facility alone.

Local Vaccine Planning: On January 13, 2021, GRMC reported that it had requested 500 doses of vaccine per week from the State of Texas with a plan to hold a small scale vaccine clinic at the hospital. The State declined GRMC’s request and recommended we partner with our local health authority.

Last week GRMC, Guadalupe County, and the City of Seguin submitted a joint plan to the Texas Department of State Health Services detailing plans to host a mass vaccine hub at the Seguin Coliseum with the capability of providing 1,000 vaccines per day. The State has confirmed receipt of the plan. While we await word from the State, GRMC continues to collaborate with the City and County to finalize our vaccine plan for when vaccine supply is available and distributed.

There is not a waiting list for vaccines. If the State grants the allocation request we will clearly communicate the registration process to the public.
