[Seguin, Texas] May 6, 2020 — The total of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Guadalupe County has risen to 87 including 38 recovered patients and 12 active cases in Seguin. We know that community transmission of COVID-19 is occurring in our region and expect to see cases for the foreseeable future with an expected seasonal increase in Fall of 2020.

Curbside Lab Draws at GRMC: Weather permitting, GRMC will now be offering curbside lab blood draws at GRMC from 6:30 am – 11:00 am Monday through Friday beginning on Thursday May 7, 2020. You will need to have your physician order, driver’s license and insurance card ready to take advantage of this new service.

To use our curbside lab draws you will drive to the front central entrance off Court Street and pull into one of the eight parking spots designated as reserved for outpatient lab. Please park and call or text (830) 491-7140 with your parking spot number. The phlebotomist will come to you so you can stay in the safety of your car. This service is for patients needing blood draws only. Our full lab and imaging services will continue to be offered on campus at the hospital Monday through Friday from 6:30 am- 6:00 pm.

Preparation of Off-Site Location for Potential Surge Capacity: We previously reported that GRMC, in partnership with local emergency management officials, had been exploring off-campus facility options for housing non-COVID-19 patients who require hospitalization in the event of a surge of COVID-19 patients. Guadalupe Regional Medical Center’s Outpatient Surgery Center, located at 214 Medical Drive in Seguin, has been prepared for patient occupancy and is now licensed for use by Health and Human Services for this purpose.

The availability of beds at this alternate location will allow us to progress with opening up our surgical services confident that GRMC has the resources to keep 15% hospital capacity available to treat COVID-19 patients in accordance with Governor Abbott’s most recent executive order.

COVID-19 Mental Health Support Line: Texas Health and Human Services is maintaining a 24/7 statewide mental health support line to help Texans experiencing anxiety, stress or emotional challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This resource offers COVID-19-related mental health support for all Texans. People can call the Statewide COVID-19 Mental Health Support Line 24 hours a day, 7 days a week toll-free at 833-986-1919.

Guadalupe Regional Medical Center is committed to providing our community with updated information as warranted during this challenging time.
