Teleneurology Services

GRMC is proud to offer inpatient, non-emergency teleneurology. Telenueurology allows a neurologist to observe a patient from a remote location using a video link. GRMC’s teleneurology program collaborates with board-certified neurologists that can be accessed in our inpatient setting 365 days a year. Some conditions neurologists can diagnose to treat with this technology include dementia, stroke, multiple sclerosis and epilepsy.

Teleneurology gives patients the ability to stay close to home, yet receive top notch care. It can make a patient’s hospital stay shorter by eliminating barriers that limit access to specialty care in order to achieve the best possible outcome for every patient. In addition, this technology makes it faster and easier to consult with a neurologist for suggested treatments or further recommendations for diagnosis.

Advantages of Telemedicine

Telemedicine helps break through a number of different barriers for patient care including distance, access to transportation, fragmentation of care due to gaps between appointments, and lack of available providers. By providing telemedicine to our patients, GRMC is extending the access to a variety of healthcare services within our medical center. The advantages of this technology include:

  • Increases access to care
  • Improves quality of care delivery
  • Reduces healthcare costs
  • Enhances traditional face-to-face medicine
  • Improves patient engagement and satisfaction
