The Sleep Center puts sleep disorders to rest
If you or a loved one has trouble sleeping, it can affect productivity, your mood, and even lead to serious health conditions and syndromes.
Not getting enough shut eye can wreak havoc on your health. People who sleep five hours or less a night may be at higher risk of developing high blood pressure or worsening already high blood pressure. A lack of sleep also makes it difficult to control blood glucose levels, which can put you at risk for diabetes or complicate your treatment if you already have been diagnosed with diabetes.
Not sleeping well can also lead to weight gain.
And if you think sleep disorders are experienced only by adults, think again. In one study, insomnia increased the risk of anxiety, depression and ADHD in children at age 4 and the risk of behavioral problems at age 6.
Luckily, GRMC understands the importance of a ‘good night’s sleep’ on your health. The Sleep Center at GRMC – in conjunction with South Texas Sleep Diagnostics – is a program that offers a comfortable environment for the diagnosis of:
– Sleep apnea
– Restless leg syndrome
